Sailor McKinney and Mason Grose of Nicholas County High School win the second stop of the 2022-2023 Bass Nation of WV High School Trail with a bag weight of 6.84. The duo’s win helped propel them into the lead in the Team Year-to-Date Standings with 199 points. McKinney and Grose finished 2nd earlier this year on the Monongahela River out of Fairmont, WV.

“This is our home lake so winning this one means a lot,” Grose said. “We were in a bad slump last year, placing second on the Mon River and winning this one has been incredible.”

2nd place currently in the Team Year-to-Date Standings is the duo of Aidan Crockett and Paxton Smith also with 199 points. They were champions of the first stop of the trail on the Monongahela River and finished up 2nd on Sunday at Summersville. The separation of 1st and 2nd is determined by the biggest fish weighed from each team. Currently, Mason and Sailor hold that with a 2.38 Big Fish.

Taking the win on the Junior side at Summersville was the team of Luke Stewart and Austin Craze who weighed a total of 7.60. This was a back-to-back win for the team who also won on the Monongahela River in July.

2nd place was Mon Valley Junior Bassmasters duo of Bo Hollen and Ari Clark who had a bag weight of 6.35 and won big fish with a 2.28 smallmouth.
