Mountain State Kayak Anglers 2022 season is a wrap. Blaine Winters took home the Angler of the Year title and wrapped up a hard-to-achieve season. Blaine is the first-ever, two-time MSKA Angler of the Year. He was on fire this season and simply continued to win or rank high in the standings no matter the conditions or location.

This was the first year MKSA went with a point system, over total inches to decide AOY and it was well received. The system awarded wins over total inches, the idea was to award a win regardless of 40” won the day or 60”. All anglers know, that sometimes a 40” win on a miserable weather day is just as hard to pull off as a 60” win with perfect conditions.
Blaine is also on track to possibly win the Southern West Virginia Kayak Anglers angler of the year, keep an eye out on their season for results.

He will also be competing in the first-ever West Virginia State Championship, hosted by Mountain State Kayak Anglers, Southern West Virginia Kayak Anglers, and West Virginia Kayak Anglers, on October 15th. All three clubs have come together this year to crown one amazing angler in the state of West Virginia. This title has been a long time coming, it is well deserved and will take a lot of work, commitment, and knowledge for an angler to achieve.
